Spring Theater: How to Overthrow Your Student Government

The Audition:

When I signed up for the play, I didn't think I would be part of the cast. I went to the audition, thinking of what role I would play. My audition day came, and I went to the theatre. I went with one of my dormmates, and we did the audition together. We both did auditions for the main character and the main antagonist. However, as soon as I saw the character list, there was somebody I wanted to try. It was Harry Potter. Our play was "How to overthrow your student government" by Ian McWethy. It's about the main character Jen becoming the dictator of the school but later realizing that what she did was wrong and reflecting on her actions. It is a comedy play, and Harry Potter is a character that's name is just Harry Potter. He has no powers and is nothing like the Harry we know. After looking at Harry's lines, I wanted to be Harry and felt I would connect well with the character and act best in that role. Thankfully as soon as I started doing my audition with my dormmate, Mr. Good, our theatre teacher, told me to try out Harry Potter. I was so happy that he told me to do the role before even asking if I could try Harry. I finished my audition successfully, and I got the part I wanted.
